Plans underway for 2020 Festival Song Competition

Culture and Entertainment Minister Olivia Grange says plans are well advanced for this year's staging of Jamaica Festival Song Competition.

Miss Grange says with the finals set for July, the country will know the winning song in time for the independence celebrations.

The top ten songs will be announced later this week.

Several changes have been made in how the programme will be executed.

Due to social distance requirements, the event will take a TV and social media format, to give a wider audience a chance to participate.

Miss Grange says there are high level discussions taking place with strategic partners to finalise the format and presentation.

She says a final decision will be made shortly on other Independence/Festival activities including the Gospel Song Competition, Festival Queen Competition, World Reggae Dance, Culinary Arts, Creative Writing, Visual Arts, the National Festival of the Performing Arts and the Grand Gala.
