'Squid Game' makes history with nominations for Screen Actors Guild Awards

Blockbuster Netflix series Squid Game has made history by becoming the first non-English-language series and first Korean series to score a nomination at the 2022 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Korean drama is nominated for outstanding cast in a drama series, as well as best actor in a drama series, best actress in a drama series and best stunt ensemble.

Since premiering in September last year, Squid Game has become a global phenomenon, pulling in 1.65 billion hours of viewing during its first four weeks of release.

It surpassed Bridgerton as the most-watched Netflix original series in history.

Squid Game won three Golden Globe Awards on Sunday, including best television drama, and earned O Yeong-su a supporting actor prize.
