Carreras reports increased profit

 
Carreras, the cigarette distributor, reported increased profit for its first quarter ended June 30.
 
For the three months, the company made J$1.1 billion after tax, up from the $696 million made for the corresponding period in 2022.
 
Carreras also saw an improvement in revenues, earning $4.3 billion, compared to $3.5 billion last year.
 
Carreras is also changing its financial year.
 
The Commissioner General at Tax Administration Jamaica has granted approval for the company's financial year to end on December 31 instead of the existing 
 
March 31.
 
The change will take effect as at December 31, 2023.
