Control crime and see Jamaica's tourism arrivals jump - Bartlett

Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett believes the number of visitors coming to Jamaica  could jump  from the current level of 4.3 million last year to between 10 and 15 million per year if crime is controlled.

He also stressed that the recent reduction in major crimes has led to a significant improvement in Jamaica's international image as a safe and secure tourism destination.

Jamaica has been enjoying a significant decrease in crime this year, highlighted by a major dip in murders. This continues a notable downward trend from last year.

The lowest weekly murder count in 2024 was six murders in Christmas week of 2024.

The trend continued this year with February recording 48 murders, the lowest figure for a month in 25 years, before dipping even lower in April with 44.
