General Manager of Recycling Partners of Jamaica, Gary Taylor, says since 2019, the company has removed one billion plastic bottles from the environment, including 405 million in the last year alone.
RPG sends 85% of collected bottles to recycling centres, where they are repurposed into items like new bottles, T-shirts and shoes.
The organisation is also exploring using high-density plastics to create plastic wood.
RPG operates 10 recycling depots and over 500 drop-off points across Jamaica, excluding St. Elizabeth, Trelawny, Hanover and St. Ann.
