Digicel reports drop in sales and earnings for fourth quarter

Digicel Group told creditors on Thursday that sales and earnings dropped in its fourth financial quarter to the end of March as the COVID-19 pandemic continued to weigh on the business.

Digicel, with operations in 32 markets across the Caribbean, Central American and Asia Pacific regions, saw service revenues decline by two per cent to US$538 million on the same period in 2020.

The Irish Times reported Thursday afternoon that earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation fell by three per cent to $253 million.

Revenues and earnings were affected as many of its markets were hit by severe COVID-19 restrictions, hitting tourism and general economic activity.
