The Justice Department and eight states have filed a lawsuit against tech company, Google.
The suit was filed today in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.
It alleges that the company is harming competition with its dominance in the online advertising market and calls for it to be broken up.
Google is also being accused of bullying publishers and advertisers into using its proprietary ad technology products.
The eight states joining the suit include the tri-states.
Lawmakers and regulators have frequently raised concerns about the tech giant's power but have so far failed to pass new legislation or regulations that might rein in the company or its peers.
