Dawkins rides his first winner of the season at ASD

Former Jamaican champion jockey Dane Dawkins rode his first winner of the season at Assiniboia Downs (ASD) in Winnepeg, Canada during Tuesday night's 8-race

Dawkins made all the running aboard the 4 year old bay gelding Meko Mackee who created a mild upset at 7-1 in the 5th event, a claiming contest for 3 year olds and up over 5 and a half furlongs.

Dawkins who is doing his third stint in Winnepeg, arrived a month after the season had started.

Another Jamaican jockey, Shavon Townsend closed the programme astride the 2-1 chance Thustly Inspired going 5 and a half furlongs. The 2025 season at ASD ends on October 8.
