Detectives of the Criminal Investigations Branch in Clarendon have charged a second suspect in connection with a shooting of a police officer and another man in Sandy Bay last July.
He is a 21-year-old Dontae Taylor, otherwise known as 'Berrita' and 'Six', also of Inverness Drive at Sandy Bay.
Taylor has been charged with two counts of wounding with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition, and using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony.
The incident occurred on July 26 last year.
The May Pen Police had reported that about 8:30 p.m., a policeman was at an event in Sandy Bay when he heard that a man had been shot nearby.
He went to render assistance but was attacked by a group of armed men.
This led to a shootout.
After the shooting subsided, it was discovered that the policeman was shot.
He and the man who had earlier been attacked were assisted to hospital where they were treated.
Following an investigation, Taylor's co-accused, 27-year-old deliveryman Kirk Messam, surrendered to the police in August 2 and was charged.
Taylor was apprehended in his community on Sunday and charged on Wednesday after being questioned.
He is scheduled to appear in the Clarendon Parish Court on July 14.
