GraceKennedy buys agro park to boost local agricultural output

Frank James, the new CEO of GraceKennedy Group, says the company recently bought an agro park as part of its plans to boost domestic agricultural output for import substitution and exports.

He adds that the company is collaborating with an American university to apply new irrigation technologies to improve yields from the park.

Speaking in an interview Friday on Real Business on Power 106FM, Mr. James said the park is operated under the mother farm concept.

This means GraceKennedy assists the farmers with inputs and then buys their output on contract for use in import substitution and exports as well as to boost foreign exchange earnings.
