The Third Supplementary Estimates of Expenditure for the current fiscal year (2019/2020), which make provisions for additional spending in response to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, was approved in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
This followed review of the spending plans by the Public Administration and Appropriations Committee (PAAC) and the Standing Finance Committee of the House.
Dr. Nigel Clarke, Minister of Finance and the Public Service, who moved the motion, noted that the revised Estimates of Expenditure incorporate the reallocation of unutilised Central Government resources, the majority of which will go towards financing COVID-related activities.
The revision does not change the total amount of the current year Budget, which remains at $859 billion.
However, it reallocates $832 million from capital spending to recurrent expenditure.
