IMF says various sectors showing effects of tightened monetary policies globally

The International Monetary Fund says various sectors are already showing the effects of tightening monetary policies by central banks across the world.

The IMF's Chief Economist, Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, says a number of central banks are closer to slowing or pausing interest rate movements.

He says while some instruments are seeing higher interest rates and the cost for borrowing has increased, some commodity prices have seen declines.

The Bank of Jamaica has paused the movements in the policy interest rate, holding it at seven per cent.
