Jamaica has suspended the Common External Tariff (CET) on nine renewable energy and efficiency items for two years.
The items include, compact fluorescent lamps, thermal storage air conditioning systems and lithium-ion batteries.
The suspension, which came into effect on January 5, will continue to December 31, 2023.
The Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology says last month the Council for Trade and Economic Development approved the suspension of the CET on a priority list of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficient Technologies.
