Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness is promising the construction of 60 thousand new houses in a possible third term for his governing Jamaica Labour Party, while acknowledging that there is still a serious lag in the number of houses being built.
Speaking at a Jamaica Labour Party Area Council 2 Gospel concert in St Catherine Sunday night, Dr Holness said there is an estimated shortage of 150,000 new housing developments in the country.
He also disclosed that his administration is on track to complete the previously promised 70 thousand new houses and remains committed to addressing the issue of access to housing.
The Prime Minnister added that his administration is looking to develop housing units in St Catherine to respond to the needs of residents.
