Jamaica's radiation safety infrastructure touted as best in Caribbean

Jamaica has established itself as the leading country in the Caribbean in relation to radiation safety and security due to its deep expertise and forward thinking vision.

This is according to Executive Director of the Hazardous Substances Regulatory Authority, Dr. Cliff Riley.

Dr. Riley says the entity has not only transformed Jamaica's domestic radiation safety infrastructure but it is also playing a critical role in the development of the Caribbean's infrastructure.

"We are proud to say that Jamaica has the most advanced independent regulatory body for radiation safety in the Caribbean. We have set the pace for other nations that are now following our lead, and we’ve been instrumental in helping them get started," he said during a recent JIS interview.

The Hazardous Substances Regulatory Authority falls under the Ministry of Industry Investment and Commerce.
