Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, says Latin America and the Caribbean can become a global leader in the field of green energy due to their abundance of sunshine, strong winds and geothermal energy.
She argues that harnessing these resources would make the region an example for the rest of the world to follow.
Speaking at a three-day regional high level forum on making the transition from fossil fuel to renewable energy, the IMF chief also pointed out that it would take a whopping US$100 billion over a 20-year period to build resilience in the region.
