Police keeping watch on Olympic Gardens after reputed gang leader killed

The St. Andrew South Police are keeping a close watch on sections of the division following Wednesday night's fatal shooting of the reputed leader of the 440 Drive Gang, based in Olympic Gardens.

Mark Harrison, also called 'Mark 2', of 440 Drive in Olympic Gardens, was shot dead at his home about 11 p.m.

Investigators say he was killed by one of his alleged cronies.

The Area 4 Police have listed a man who goes by the alias 'Germi' as a person of interest.

Assistant Commissioner Michael Phipps, head of Area 4, is urging 'Germi' to immediately surrender to the police for questioning.

The Area 4 commander revealed that the area is tense and the police are implementing measures to prevent reprisals.

It is reported that Harrison was at home when he was approached by the suspect who opened fire at him, hitting him multiple times all over the body.

The cops say they have been left baffled by the incident as in the days leading up to Wednesday night's shooting, both men were frequently seen together in the community engaging in seemingly friendly interactions, socialising, drinking and spending time together in a manner that gave no indication of conflict.

Investigators say the suspected killer was brought into the community by Harrison who was under investigation for murders and shootings in the division.

They say the 440 Drive Gang is involved in murders, shootings, firearm rental, extortion and contract killings.

Harrison was arrested and charged on several occasions by the police.
