Most US equities markets closed higher on Monday to record back to back increases.
The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq climbed on the back of increases in the stock prices of Nvidia by 3.4%; Micron Technologies 10.5%; Broadcom, 1.7% and the VanEck Semiconductor ETF by 3% but the Dow dipped.
European markets also closed higher, although they fell from higher levels after US President Donald Trump dismissed a report from the Washington Post that his tariff plan will be milder than expected.
And German inflation jumped to 2.9% in December.
Asia Pacific markets tumbled, on the other hand.
