Robinson wants PM to name new Finance Minister now

Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson, speaking on Real Business, on Power 106 FM

With less than a week to go before Finance Minister Dr. Nigel Clarke demits office for his new role at the Washington based International Monetary Fund (IMF), Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson is calling for Prime Minister Andrew Holness to name a successor now.

Mr. Robinson points out that the issue is creating some amount of unease and uncertainty.

"The Prime Minister said on the day [Dr. Clarke's IMF appointment was announced] he already knows who is going to succeed, and up to now we don't know who is going to succeed," he complained Thursday while speaking on Real Business, on Power 106 FM.

Mr. Robinson believes the uncertainty surrounding the naming of a new Finance Minister is having a negative effect on confidence in the economy and the Jamaican dollar.
