Some new hires in Bahamas public service still unplaced but getting paid

Of the hundreds of employees hired in the public service ahead of the September 16 general election in The Bahamas, about 40 remain at home receiving a full salary because of an inability to place them.

Minister of State for the Public Service Pia Glover-Rolle made the revelation during a press briefing.

Mrs Glover-Rolle said it was possible some of the new hires will be let go as she expounded on the government's decision to implement a hiring freeze in the public sector and its ongoing review and audit of the new workers.

The audit is expected to be completed in June or July next year.
