The JSE Index declined by 1,626 points on Tuesday, while the Junior Market Index declined by 31 points.
A total of 118 stocks traded with declining shares outnumbering advancing shares almost two to one.
The 36 stocks which advanced were led by General Accident, K.L.E. Group, Productive Business Solutions 9.5 per cent Perpetual Cumulative USD shares, Sygnus Credit Investments 8 per cent, and Lasco Financial Services.
The 66 declining stocks included Sterling Investments USD shares, Margaritaville Turks, Margaritaville Turks USD shares, Cargo Handlers and JMMB 9.5 per cent preference shares.
Sixteen stocks traded firm.
