Strawberry farmers access $43 million financing from DBJ

Four strawberry farmers have accessed financing of $43 million from the Development Bank of Jamaica to improve and expand production.

The four farms are Synergy Business Solutions, Abbey Garden Farm, Jikoni Table of Jamaica, and Adam's Valley Farm.

The money was used to conduct a study tour to California to explore global best practices, develop a technology pack suited for the local environment, and construct new greenhouses. It was also used to retrofit existing greenhouses with advanced cooling systems powered by solar energy, as well as to fund the introduction of a new high-yield strawberry, which has adapted to Jamaican climactic conditions.

Funding was provided through the DBJ's Boosting Innovation Growth and Entrepreneurship Ecosystem programme.
