Ambassador Madge Barrett, a prominent member of Jamaica's diplomatic service for decades, died on Saturday.
Ambassador Barrett, who was widely known for her role as Director of Protocol in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for several years prior to retirement, had been ailing for sometime.
In 2012, she was among fifty women who were honoured on International Women's Day for significant contributions to the country's development.
During her tenure as Head of Protocol, Ambassador Barrett oversaw Jamaica's hosting of numerous dignitaries, among them several visiting members of the British Royal family.
