Antigua and Barbuda: PM Browne says CARICOM leaders should seek assistance from Venezuela to deal with rising energy costs

Antigua and Barbuda's Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, is calling for CARICOM leaders to approach Venezuela for assistance in dealing with the rising cost of energy products.

Mr. Browne said he has criticised the trade embargo placed on Venezuela by the United States.

He claimed that Washington's sanctions against the South American country are having a negative impact on the region as a whole.

In August 2019, President Donald Trump imposed additional sanctions on Venezuela, ordering a freeze on all Venezuelan government assets in the United States and barring transactions with US citizens and companies.
