Burn victim, 14-year-old Ackalia Dunkley, left the island for Atlanta, Georgia today for emergency medical treatment.
The teenager was airlifted by medical ambulance from the University Hospital of the West Indies where she was being treated since Friday's incident.
It was reported that Ackalia was at home in Black River, St. Elizabeth preparing breakfast when the stove she was using exploded.
Through the Sanmerna Foundation, local and overseas donors helped the family secure US$45,000 needed for her to be flown overseas for medical care.
But more funds will be needed for rehabilitation.
