The Minister of Finance should by the end of the day receive the budget for the holding of the by-election in Clarendon South East.

Director of Elections Glasspole Brown told Radio Jamaica News Monday morning that adjustments were still being made but the Electoral Office was looking at "roughly $25 million."

Mr. Brown said it is unlikely that the Electronic Voter Identification and Ballot Issuing System will be used if a by-election is held.

He said it has never been used in the constituency.

Mr. Brown further explained that if only one candidate is nominated at the close of nomination at 2 p.m., then the returning officer will declare the sole candidate as the elected member of parliament.

Pearnel Charles Jr will be the Jamaica Labour Party's candidate.

The People's National Party has announced that it will boycott the by-election.
