Caribbean Cement settles pay dispute with production workers

UCASE President Vincent Morrison

An agreement has been reached between Caribbean Cement Company and the Union of Clerical Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE) in the dispute over payments to production workers under the profit sharing scheme.

The more than 60 production workers, who took industrial action last week, will be paid five per cent of their basic pay for 2020.

This should be done no later that December 8.

UCASE President Vincent Morrison said the issue was resolved during a conciliatory meeting at the Ministry of Labour on Wednesday.

Mr. Morrison said other matters which led to the protest, including recalculations to redundancy payments, will be discussed at a later date.
