Fire investigators are attempting to determine the cause of a massive blaze along Cedar Valley Road in Standpipe, St. Andrew on Friday morning.

More than 30 people, including 17 adults and 14 children, have been left homeless by the blaze.

Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade Emilio Ebanks said the Fire Brigade received a call at about 2:30 a.m. that a dwelling was on fire.

Five units from the Half Way Tree, Trench Town and York Park fire stations responded.

But the tenement dwelling, which had 14 bedrooms, a beauty salon, grocery and cook shop, was destroyed.

Mr. Ebanks said the investigation into the cause of the fire continues, but the damage has so far been estimated at $12 million.
