Cop sentenced to 15 years in prison

A policeman was sentenced yesterday to 15 years imprisonment at hard labour for rape.

Craig Williams who was a constable assigned to the Protective Services Division was also sentenced to five years and twelve years imprisonment at hard labour  for illegal possession of  a firearm.

His sentences are to run concurrently.

The St. Thomas Circuit Court heard that the offences were committed between December 29 and 30, 2012.

Constable Williams pleaded not guilty to all counts when he appeared in court on October 4.

Evidence was heard from the complainant, three civilian witnesses and two police officers.

On October 25, Justice Martin Gayle gave his summation and returned a verdict of  guilty on all the counts.
