A taxi driver died and his two passengers were hospitalised on Saturday after the vehicle they were in was swept away by flood waters at a ford in Hopewell, St. Mary yesterday.
The identity of the dead man has not been released.
It's reported that the three of them were in the taxi which plied the Richmond to Annotto Bay route when the driver attempted to cross the ford which was inundated due to heavy rains.
The vehicle was washed into the river. Residents sprung into action to render assistance.
The residents are renewing calls for a proper bridge to be built in the area to avoid a repeat of yesterday's fatal incident.
