COVID-19 cases at Golden Age Home rise to 69

The number of COVID-19 cases at the Vineyard Town Golden Age Home in St. Andrew has increased to 69.

Health Minister Dr. Christopher made the announcement Thursday afternoon at a media briefing, noting that an additional 26 cases of the virus had been detected at the facility, in addition to the initial 43 reported.

Dr. Tufton said a breakdown of the cases show 40 are residents of the facility, 19 are staff, while 10 are to be determined.

On Wednesday, Dr. Tufton had said the first set of COVID patients identified at the home were stable with no symptoms.

Stricter measures are now in effect at the facility.

The South East Regional Health Authority will conduct training sessions in infection prevention at the home.
