People's National Party (PNP) Vice President Damion Crawford has indicated that he is interested in the leadership position.
PNP President Dr. Peter Phillips has notified the party he intends to step aside following its defeat in the September 3 general election.
Speaking Wednesday on the Morning Agenda on Power 106, Mr. Crawford said a few members of the party are interested in becoming President of the PNP.
When asked whether he is eyeing the position at this time, Mr. Crawford said: "I don't think there is anybody within the party that if they were offered the leadership would have refused it because they believe they're incompetent or otherwise, so I think quite a few of us are interested."
However, he acknowledged that individual ambition is not the only consideration for leadership.
"Do you have the support? Do you perceive yourself to be ready or capable to be ready in time for the election? Can you deliver what is necessary for the party? Those are questions and I'm seeking to answer those questions myself," he told Morning Agenda host Sanjay Lewis.
