ECC expecting report this week on beating of toddler at Trelawny day care

Monique Pryce, Communications Manager at the ECC

The Early Childhood Commission (ECC) says by the end of the week it should be able to provide an update on the investigation into the beating of a two-year-old boy at a day care centre in Falmouth, Trelawny.

The incident reportedly took place a month ago.

Monique Pryce, Communications Manager at the ECC, told Radio Jamaica News that an inspector was assigned on Tuesday to conduct a probe and report is expected within 48 hours.

Miss Pryce said if there is confirmation that corporal punishment was used to discipline the child, the ECC could suspend or cancel the centre's certificate of registration as well as its permit to operate.
