Residents of West Bay in Edgewater, Portmore on Monday staged a peaceful protest to appeal to the National Water Commission (NWC) to have a road in the community repaired.

It was explained to Radio Jamaica News that the road on Coral Way was dug up for sewage repairs more than a year ago.

According to the residents, the road now resembles a river bed.

They say despite several promises from the NWC, they continue to be inconvenienced.

One woman told Radio Jamaica News that she is asthmatic and has to seek medical attention "almost every two weeks" because of the dust nuisance the road condition has caused.

"The road needs to be fixed and we want justice," she demanded.

Another resident echoed those sentiments, adding that the road has caused damage to vehicles.

"When the rain fall, it cause flood. In the people them yard muddy and dusty and the neighbours have been complaining, so we need justice to get the road to be done," she appealed.

Robert Miller, Member of Parliament for St. Catherine South East, said a similar situation is occurring in Portsmouth.

Mr. Miller said he has escalated his appeal to the Minister with responsibility for water, Matthew Samuda.
