Emergency shelters close following Elsa's passage

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) says the 12 emergency shelters which were activated ahead of the passage of Tropical Storm Elsa have been closed.

Richard Thompson, Acting Director General of the ODPEM, told Radio Jamaica News that all Parish Emergency Operations Centres have also been deactivated.

The centres in Portland, St. Mary and Kingston held review meetings on Monday.

Mr. Thompson said damage assessment is being carried out in Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine, Mandela Terrace and Vineyard Town in Kingston and the community of Banks in Clarendon.
