Energy Minister intervenes in tanker driver wage dispute

Vincent Morrison, President of the Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE)

Energy Minister Daryl Vaz has intervened in the wage dispute involving tanker drivers.

Mr. Vaz met last week with the trade union which represents the 200 drivers.

Vincent Morrison, President of the Union of Clerical, Administrative and Supervisory Employees (UCASE), told Radio Jamaica News that Mr. Vaz has agreed to meet with the workers to discuss their grouse over the slow pace of wage negotiations.

He welcomed the meeting and said the workers have decided to "move away from the work stoppages, so we can put in something permanent and lasting; something much more effective in terms of not only for the 200 drivers that we represent, but certainly for the haulage contractors and other stakeholders in the petroleum sector."
