The father of the four-year-old boy who died on Thursday after being left in a locked car for several hours outside a basic school in Rollington Town, St. Andrew, is demanding answers.

The child has been identified as Jordaine Clarke.

Radio Jamaica News was told that the boy and other children were transported to the school by a teacher about 9 o'clock in the morning.

It's reported that the children exited the vehicle but Jordaine was left behind.

Sometime in the afternoon the teacher discovered that the child was still in the car.

The boy was taken to Bustamante Hospital for Children where he was pronounced dead at 3:20 p.m.

In an interview with Radio Jamaica News on Friday, Jordaine's father, Curtis Clarke, questioned the circumstances surrounding his son's death.

"Weh dem seh she seh is dat she lef him inna di car an figet him. How dat mek sense? If you carry more dan one pickney go ah school and you teach di pickney dem, how yuh aguh lef one pickney inna di car from yuh carry him go ah school? An' when him dead when school over, you aguh find out seh di likkle boy never attend di class, and is a four-year-old child?"

Mr. Clarke said his son's death is taking a toll on him.

"Mi cyah sleep, mi cyah stop think bout mi son. Mi never expect me woulda live fi see dah day yah," said the distraught father, who lamented that the situation just did not "add up".

Jordaine's death is reminiscent of another tragedy that took place a month ago.

On January 19, eighteen-month-old Shalaney Dobson died at Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth after being left in a car for eight hours.
