Taxi operator charged with murder of UTech student remanded

Jamar Grant, the inDrive taxi operator accused of the kidnapping and murder of University of Technology (UTech) student Anisa Dilworth, was remanded on Friday when he appeared before the St. Catherine Parish Court.

He is scheduled to return to court on September 26.

The 29-year-old accused, of a Bull Bay, St. Catherine address, was charged two weeks ago with the offences of murder and kidnapping.

The charges were laid after DNA test results confirmed that remains found near Fort Clarence Beach on May 17 were those of the missing student.

Anisa was reported missing on May 7 after boarding an inDrive taxi.

But the ride-sharing company has said its records showed that her last ride using the app was in 2024, and the accused driver's account was created afterward.

inDrive said based on the available data, there was no record indicating that the incident occurred during a trip arranged through the platform.
