The police are investigating an act of desecration in the community of Brompton in St. Elizabeth.
A grave was dug up and residents believe that persons involved in the cash for gold trade were involved.
The grave, which is situated in a family plot, contained the remains of a man who was buried 19 years ago.
Early yesterday residents discovered that it had been disturbed and gold items as well as cash that were buried with the remains had been removed.
A report was made to the Black River Police.
The residents are calling for the intervention of the Health Department and are seeking advice on how to repair the damaged grave.
