Grave dug up by person suspected to be involved in cash for gold trade

The police are investigating an act of  desecration in the community of  Brompton in St. Elizabeth.

A grave was dug up and residents believe that persons involved in the cash for gold trade were involved.

The grave, which is situated in a family plot, contained the remains of  a man who was buried 19 years ago.

Early yesterday residents discovered that it had been disturbed and gold items as well as cash that were buried with the remains had been removed.

A report was made to the Black River Police.

The residents are calling for the intervention of  the Health Department and are seeking advice on how to repair the damaged grave.
