Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey, speaking on Sunday
Three rifles and more than 50 rounds of ammunition were found by the security forces during an operation at Stadium East in St. Andrew Sunday afternoon.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Fitz Bailey Fitz Bailey said it is suspected that other illegal firearms are in the area.
Accordingly, he said the operations will continue, "because we're not going to stop until we find every weapon that is at this location."
The successful operation was executed by several security agencies, including the Jamaica Constabulary Force, Major Organized Crime & Anti-Corruption Agency (MOCA) and the Jamaica Defence Force, "based on intelligence that we received," DCP Bailey revealed.
The search team recovered one AK47 rifle, one Uzi submachine gun, and a shotgun, as well as 53 assorted rounds of ammunition and a number of magazines.
