A student from Hampton School drowned at Treasure Beach in St. Elizabeth on Sunday.
She is 18-year-old Isa Ridgard of Malvern in the parish.
The incident occurred about 3 p.m. when the teenager went for a swim.
She reportedly got into difficulty.
A man went to assist but he encountered challenges had to be rescued.
Another beachgoer was able to grab onto the teenager. CPR was administered on the beach for sometime before the teen was taken to Black River Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
