INDECOM probing fatal shooting by off-duty cop in Hanover

Investigators of the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) are probing the fatal shooting of a man by an off-duty cop in Hanover, on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Theodore Ellis.

A 20-year-old man from Bogue Village in St. James was also injured in the incident.

It was reported that about 11:40 p.m., the detective corporal was driving on the Flint River main road when he observed that he was being trailed by a vehicle.

The driver attempted to block the policeman's path.

The corporal opened fire on the vehicle and drove to a nearby police station to report the incident.

Mr. Ellis' body was later found in the other vehicle.

The other four passengers were at the scene.

They were taken to the Sandy Bay police station where they were questioned.

The policeman is to be questioned by INDECOM next week.
