Voters in the United States are going to the polls today to elect that country's 47th President.
Donald Trump and Kamala Harris both predicted victory as they campaigned across Pennsylvania in the final, frantic day of what has been foreast to be close election.
The campaign has seen several twists: two assassination attempts and a felony conviction for Republican former President Trump, and the surprise elevation of Vice President Harris surprise elevation to the top of the Democratic Party's ticket after President Joe Biden dropped his reelection bid under pressure from his own party.
According to AdImpact, an analytics firm, more than US$2.6 billion has been spent to sway voters' minds since March.
Nevertheless, opinion polls show 78 year old Trump, and 60 year old Harris virtually even.
The winner may not be known for days after today's vote, though Trump has already signaled that he will attempt to fight any defeat, as he did in 2020.
