The government will be spending J$190 million this year to construct and improve police stations and other buildings across the island.
The amount was outlined in the recently tabled Estimates of Expenditure for the fiscal year 2016/17.
The money that will come the consolidated funds, will be spent on police stations and other buildings.
While the estimates of expenditure did not outline the amount to be spent on each building – it revealed that the money will be spent in five areas.
Those include the retrofitting of mobile police stations and construction of police offices; the construction of a mobile reserve facility in western Jamaica; the construction of a roof for the Forensic Laboratory;the construction and expansion of the Regional Drug Law Enforcement Training Centre (REDTRAC) building in Twickenham Park, St Catherine and the construction of a Detention Centre for the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
