Jamaican couple allowed to stay in the USA after hiding in church basement for 843 days

A Jamaican couple emerged from a West Philadelphia church on Monday after hiding out in the basement for 843 days.

Oneita and Clive Thompson recently received written confirmation that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will support their case to stay in the United States.

The couple had claimed they went to the U.S. after fleeing gang violence in Jamaica.

The Thompsons arrived in the United States in 2004, saying they were seeking refuge from gang violence. They now have seven children, three of whom are American citizens.

After years of eluding deportation for their irregular immigration status, they have now won the support of the US Immigration and Customs Agency (ICE) to remain in the United States.
