JetBlue Airways has suspended one of its flight attendants, Kalina Collier who claimed she was kidnapped in Jamaica.
A statement from JetBlue spokesman, Derek Dombrowski on Tuesday said Ms. Collier has been suspended while an investigation is being carried out.
The airline also apologised to the people of Jamaica and the Jamaican government for the concern and frustration the incident has caused.
Ms. Collier's initial claims on her social media account resulted in her followers calling for a boycott of Jamaica.
The police said the JetBlue employee tested positive for COVID-19 and was placed in isolation, in keeping with Jamaica's prevention protocols.
Hours after departing Jamaica on Sunday, Ms. Collier said she was never missing or kidnapped.
