Scorpions squander advantage against Windies Academy

The Jamaica Scorpions will enter the final day of their 5th round regional 4-day championship match against the West Indies Academy at the Coolidge Ground with the game in the balance.

The West Indies Academy ended the penultimate day on 256-5, needing 100 more runs to win. Academy wicketkeeper Carlon Bowen-Tuckett is unbeaten on 46, while Joshua Bishop is on 25. Captain Akeme Auguste 77 and Teddy Bishop 57, have been the top scorers so far. 

Ojay Shields and Brad Barnes have picked up two wickets wickets apiece for the Scorpions.

Earlier, resuming on 110-2 with a solid lead of 274 runs, the Scorpions collapsed and were bowled out for 191 runs.

Left-arm spinner Joshua Bishop with figures of 5-35 and medium pacer Johan Layne 4-50, led the bowling for the Windies Academy.

Brandon King top scored for the scorpions with a knock of 77. The game resumes at 9:00 am Jamaica time on Saturday.
