A man who was accused of firing at the police last year has been acquitted of illegal possession of firearm and assault at Common Law.
27-year-old Ian Somerville was freed of the charges when he appeared in the Home Circuit Court yesterday.
Following a two-day trial last week, Justice Leighton Pusey handed down a not guilty verdict.
Mr Somerville was accused of pulling a firearm from his waistband and firing at the police in September 2020.
The police reportedly returned fire and disarmed Mr. Somerville who was shot in the arm.
Mr Somerville's attorney Shamar Hanson told Radio Jamaica News that his client was freed after the judge took into account the testimony given by the witness.
