Opposition Leader Mark Golding is scheduled to make his contribution to the 2025/2026 budget debate in Gordon House this afternoon.
Coming on the heels of the presentation by Opposition Spokesman on Finance Julian Robinson last week, Mr Golding is expected to address several areas critical to the economy and the well being of Jamaicans.
The Opposition Leader is expected to sell himself and his party as credible and viable alternatives to the current administration.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness is due to make his contribution on Thursday, with Finance Minister Fayval Williams due to close the debate next Tuesday.
Appeal
Financial commentator Orville Johnson believes Mr Golding faces the challenge of demonstrating how he will be able to assist the ordinary worker, financially, citing the need to "inspire hope, especially in younger people, and at the same time that Jamaica maintains its reputation in the intenational space in terms of its credit rating and in terms of a well-run economy."
Mr Johnson told Radio Jamaica News that he was expecting Mr Golding to outline how he will create greater economic growth and better up-skill the country.
He added that Mr Golding could use the budget presentation to appeal to indecisive voters ahead of the upcoming parliamentary general election.
"This is the platform where he has to lay out what (he has) to offer and everything else will start after that, because you're running out of time; this is the home stretch; your have to put your cards out there now. This is his big moment."
