Mayor Belnavis readmitted to hospital after being wounded in attack

Mayor of St. Ann's Bay Micheal Belnavis was on Tuesday afternoon readmitted to hospital after feeling discomfort from the wounds he received during an attack at his home on Monday night.

Mr. Belnavis sustained chop wounds to his upper body when he entered his residence in St. Mary and was pounced upon by an intruder about 11 p.m.

The mayor reportedly managed to drive himself to St. Ann's Bay Regional Hospital where he had been treated and initially released.

The police have not released any details on the incident and it's not known whether the mayor has filed a report with the St. Mary police.
